The Fourth Bear

This book as i have been reading it reminds me of my childhood in a way. Because they really take about alot of childhood nursery rhymes but just in a different way. The take this happy old books and turn them around it this intriguing mystery of a story. Making characters like the gingerbread man into a mass murder. I always thought the gingerbread man was nice character as a child. I am most intrigued about how the author changes the childhood stories around it to these adult stories of betrayal, murder, and comedy. As of the ending of the book im not sure what is going to happen. And i really couldn't guess what is going to happen cause the book has so many twists and turns i have no clue which way it would turn to next.

Amends for Amir

Amir left his friend to fend for himself to a group of bullys. He watched from a far and as being a coward he had done nothing to help him out he just watched him get violated. I think he should of at least done something about it. Get someone older to stop it. Step in and just give the bullys the kite. It just wasnt right to just sit there and watch he should of done something.

I think for Amir to reach amends he would have to show his friend that he was a true friend. Stick up for him, buy him somethings, or just be there for when ever he is needed. I think that would be the only possible way for amir to make amends to his friend after that incident. But, than again i dont think it would of ever happened if he just go up the courage and just stepped in to back up his friend.

Mistakes

Well i have made many mistakes in my life. Most people do. From those you learn. You learn to do things differently the next time. Or to do things correctly. For example: X-mas a while back my little brother got a model from Santa. He asked me to help him build it so i did. But, i really didnt use the directions to put it together i just fitted together what looked right. All visually. But, when we finished the model looked like a wreck. I let my brother down he was mad at me for the rest of the break. I felt so bad. And i felt like i ruined his break by doing that. So, to try to make a mends i went with my mom and i bought him a new one. I brought it home to him and he was overjoyed to see a new model. So, Him and i went through it once again but this time i read the instructions and made sure his model car looked like a car afterwards.

IR summary...

The beginning of the book starts off by talking about this little village (the place where the crime took place). I think one of the witnesses was Stanley Cribbs. He meets with a reporter for a newspaper(Miss Hatchett)(Goldilocks). She is a reporter for the toad. They begin to talk about cucumber growing and how much of a dangerous pastime it is. Than Mr. Stanely begins talking about his own experiences with the hobby and shows Goldilocks his cucumbers in his greenhouse that may be able to win next time in the contest against Hardy Fuchsia. She took multiple notes on all that Stanley was talking about and left later in the evening. Stanley gets ready for bed and than hears his alarm go off for the cucumbers in his greenhouse and he dials Goldilocks just in case and he notices that there was no false alarm someone planted explosives inside of it. Boom it goes off and stanleys house has only scattered remains left. Houses for miles have cracked and broken windows and the property next door folded like a deck of cards.

It was a set up because he was talking to the reporters and who ever had done that to of shut him up (or kill him) to keep him quiet so, he wouldnt talk no more.
I think Goldilocks is going to get it next.

Creative story

Now, this is a picture of my friend Tom. He works in special forces for the Army and he is located near a base in Brazil. He was set up at a watch point down the ridge a little bit. He was set up to keep a look out for any enemies trying to ambush the base. He notices in the woods near by. A little rustling and a little bit of noise from a distance. And it gets closer and closer and closer until boom out of the woods pops out two enemy tanks that is being followed by two fleets of armed men. Tom thinks fast on his feet and sprints toward the base to warn them that the enemy is on their way and coming strong.

Quote

The quote i think is true in a way. But, than again it all depends. For the true side of this quote they do need to do nothing for evil to win. Because there will be no one to compete with so, automatically the winner would be evil. But, on the other had it all depends because evil can also win over good by just beating them. But, i think that this quote is not possible because if you really look at it when there is an evil there is usually always a good. So thus, there will never be just a clear winner there will always be a fight between good and evil. As far as i know that will never change.

Decisions

Well first off i think decisions are a very complex. Because depending on the situation your decision factors can and may vary. Like an example is choosing the right college for yourself. Like factors could be the size of the campus, money, majors, and location. This is just one example. Sometimes decisions affect people around you. Friends and family may be especially affected by your decisions. Example: You want to see a show (like a concert) and you been talking about it and everything, and all of a sudden your friend wants to see the show also. So your decision you make affected your friends decision they made. Like right now I made a decision. I made a decision on where i would want to go to school after high school. I compared factors of all the schools by, location, size of school, majors, and money. So, i think overall i think decisions make up a big part of peoples live. From what college you want to go to, to something as little as what you want for breakfast. Decisions play a big role in our lives.

Books Title (#18)

The title of my book is Around the World in 80 Days. I think the title is perfect for the book because the book is about a one Phileas Fogg trying to prove to some guys at the reform club that it is quite possible to make it around the world in 80 days. It is called this because the author wrote about a guys journey around the world in 80 days. I would call the book The Wager of a Lifetime. I would call it this because Phileas Fogg wagers half of his fortune on him making it around the world in 80 days (which is really crazy). If one little thing were to happen though Phileas would lose half his fortune and not prove anything to the reform club guys. So, pick up the book and find out if Phileas Fogg makes it around the world in 80 days.

Questions(#9)

Does Passepartout know that Mr. Fix is a detective?
No, I don't think so, because every time they talk it seems like Passepartout just thinks as though Mr. Fix is just a traveler just like Mr. Fogg and he is. Just so happening to be going in the same direction.
Does Mr. Fogg notice or have any idea of Mr. Fix?
I know Phileas knows of him but i don't think he has actually noticed that he was following them. I think Phileas is just trying to travel and survive not really worrying about others except for his servant.

Change of Heart (#3 chapter #12)

At the end of chapter 12, Mr.Fogg and Sir Francis came up with an idea while they are traveling through Pillaji. Mr. Fogg had 12 hours to spare of his journey. So there is suppose to be a sacrifice that takes place at a pagoda of Pillaji. So they thought, "Suppose we save this woman." "I have yet twelve hours to spare; I can devote them to that." Why, you are a man of heart!" "Sometimes," replied Phileas Fogg, quietly;"when i have the time." So, because Mr. Fogg has time to spare he had decided to try and help this woman(sacrifice) out thus, showing he has a heart cause he has time. So i think this is a great point for Phileas because he is not too busy with a knit tight schedule so, now he has time to do things that he feels strongly about or hits him in the heart about. I think this one event will change his ways for later in the book to stop having such a knit tight lifestyle and to get out a little bit and live a little. Instead of being on a timed schedule. He is just really going with the flow of things which is a great change for him.

Side stories (#5 chapter #9)

I noticed in the last few chapters that Passepartout, after his brief encounter with Mr. Fix. That they got into the habit of having brief conservations about Mr. Fogg and his adventure. Mr. Fix asks,"Do you know, Mr. Passepartout, that this pretended tour in eighty days may conceal some secret errand-perhaps a diplomatic mission?" He replies,"Faith, Monsieur Fix, I assure you I know nothing about it, nor would I give half-a-crown to find out." So, i think it is very good that Passepartout is not giving Mr. Fix any important information. But the whole situation makes me move in the direction of something with Passepartout that he is going to say something and set off Mr. Fix to 100% believing that Phileas is the robber. Or, he is going to become partners with Mr. Fix. So, this whole situation makes me feel really uncomfortable because Passepartout could possible destroy the adventure for Phileas.

Circus (#10 chapter #8)

Passepartout say, " Just think, monsieur, I had no idea that we should go farther than Paris; and all that I saw of Paris was between twenty minutes past seven and twenty minutes before nine in the morning." He also says how he regrets not having seen once more Pere la Chaise and the circus in the Champs Elysees!" Now this just reminds me of a time in my life when i was younger and i went to the circus for the first time. And how much i loved the circus, and the amount of amusement i got out of it when i was younger. Now recently i was invited to go and see it again but, i declined the invitation. But, now that i think back to it i really honestly regret it because it was a really great memory in my life. But, now next time if i get asked to go i will not hesitate to yes. Just a great thing to just bring back some old but, great memories.

Prediction Changes (#7 chapter #7)

My predictions from prompt number six in chapter are wrong so far. Mr. Fogg goes to check in and get his passport signed to prove that he came through Suez. But he encounters the consul, and Mr. Fix. So, the consul signed and dated the passport, and added the official seal. Mr. Fogg paid the customary fee, and than went on his way followed by his servant. The consul said, "Well, he looks and acts like a perfectly honest man." So, I believe that the consul is right and that this whole thing is just a coincidence. But, Mr. Fix thinks other wise of Mr. Fogg. Because he still has the suspicion of him still fitting the description of the bank robber. So, maybe my prediction could still happen but not in this chapter.

My Predictions (#6 chapter #6)

In chapter five there is a brief description of a detective waiting in Suez looking for the robber. "He was just manifesting unmistakable signs of impatience, nervously pacing up and down, and unable to stand still for a moment." "This was Fix, one of the detectives who had been dispatched from England in search of the bank robber. He had a task to narrowly watch every passenger who arrived at Suez, and to follow up all who seemed to be suspicious characters, or bore a resemblance to the description of the criminal, which he had received two days before from the police head-quarters of London." (pg. 28) Now I think that this detective "Fix" will have something to do with or wrongly accuse Phileas of taking the money in a later chapter. Because Phileas on his journey just so happen to be traveling with a large sum of money. The bank robber had taken a large sum of money around 20 thousand pounds which is how much Mr. Fogg has in his bag.

News (#1 chapter #5)

In this chapter Phileas Fogg rightly suspected that his departure from London would create a lively sensation at the West End. So indeed Phileas was right. There was an epidemic between all the newspapers. Some newspapers said,"Mr. Fogg's Project as madness." While other newspaper companies say that they completely support him and also think that he will make it through his journey in the time being provided to him. I think it is pretty cool that he is being supported or turned down upon like this. It kind of shows some competition going on and some more gambling going on. For example i look at this as almost like a National Football League Superbowl. They have all the newspapers debating on who is going to win the big game. But, only in this situation they are just debating, gambling, or stating if Phileas Fogg is going to make around the world in 80 days or less.

Choices (#13 chapter # 4)

In this chapter Mr. Fogg actually accepts the wager and heads home from the Reform Club to begin some preparations for his journey that he has brought upon him self. Also i think he should of rethought the amount of money he put down to wager because one that is a lot of money back in the day, and two that is half of his fortune. So, for some advice for Mr. Fogg rethink what your doing. Is it really worth it to possible lose 20,000 pounds (half your entire fortune) to a journey to get around the world in 80 days? Or is just a way to prove to the people at the Reform Club that it completely possible to do this travel. But, overall he really needs to think it through because to me i think he has a lot on the line.

Is It Worth it? (#4 chapter# 3)

In this chapter Mr. Fogg is at the club playing cards with his friends. When a discussion arises about traveling around the world in 80 days or less. A debate began and Mr. Fogg and a co-card player decided to place a wager on if it is possible to travel around the world in 80 days. So, then Mr. Stuart bets 4 thousand pounds that Mr. Fogg can not do it. So, into Mr. Fogg's rebuddle he decides to bet an addition 20 thousand pounds. I think this is surprising for someone to do. Wagering half his fortune on a journey around the world in 80 days when the slightest mistake of timing or a problem with travels could make him lose. Lose half his fortune. I think he is either a little bit crazy or confident in his ability to make it around the world in 80 days.

Patterns(#2 chapter #1)

Parts that puzzled me were about Phileas Fogg and his daily routines. " His daily habits were quite open to observation; but whatever he did was so exactly the same thing that he had always done before." He went home every night at exactly midnight, only to retire at once to bed. Mr. Fogg's routines were quite unbearable to me. Because one it takes a lot of a person to do the same old thing every night and day of their lives. But, also it shows that person has a fear, a fear of change. So, i think Phileas Fogg is quite happy with the way he is living his live right now. Never changing always in a pattern form with whatever he does.

CHILE

As "Che" traveled through Chile i think he experienced lots of new things. First off he had encountered a part of the world that he has never seen before. It was the slums of Chile. No medical treatments available, no sanitation, no clean water. But, although they do not have much to offer their hospitality is greatly appreciated. The Chilean people were so good to them. So, in a sense "Che" & Alberto were know to be "famous". Che being an "expert" went and talked to a couple that were communist. But, communism is basically outlawed. If you were a communist you were an outcast. But, "Che" spoke to them about how communism should not be outlawed and how they should include it more into peoples lives. So, i think this experience that he had with becoming a big shot and talking to people about politics made him realize that he wanted to bring change. That communist lifestyle is not that bad at all (not really its horrible). But, i think that truly sets that path for Ernesto for later on in life for a communist kind of lifestyle(communist leader later on).

Ideals

Ideology : an organized collection of ideas. <--- (the definition) I do not think that is true. Because ideals are what makes you, you. I live to be an adventureous person in my life. Try new things as much as i can. And just overall live life to the fullest. I try to be a hard working individual and i have created my self to have a strong work ethic in school, work, and just all over in society. Be friendly to all you see. And have fun in life. Enjoy your life everyday.

Apples to Apples

In this situation with the U.S. inside Pakistan training their troops is very similar to what "Che" was doing in Bolivia. It kind of sounds like they are trying to get people that are from those countrys to be on there sides. Like Americans want people from Pakistan to view and side with the U.S. and they are trying to develop that relationship by training them to have a better military. So its like I'll scratch your back and you scratch mine. We help you train and you side with us. It is very similar it seems to what "Che" was trying to do. Trying to have people inside Bolivia to back him up. He was training them, so he just wants a little more backbone on how he is viewed inside that country. It is very similar in alot of ways.

What Beck thinks of "che"

When talking about Che Guevara I agree with Beck. He had some great points about how Che really was back in history. It is quite believable about the whole Stalin wannabe because from the sounds of it he could be almost as bad as Hitler. He was quoted " cold hearted killer" and also as not a hero. He did many things that made him the person he was. He helped Castro's rise to power, he held multiple executions and started Labor Camps for people who didn't agree with his views. But, Hollywood has adopted him as a fashion statement. They used his face on many articles of clothing, and Stars and etc. This was a way to connect to him in some shape or form. I think it is a bad thing because people in Hollywood are not realizing what he actually did. And that we should not celebrate who he was. He was a bad person and needs to be recognized for that. He shouldn't be recognized as a fashion statement either. Beck's is basically saying that Che was a bad person and he, in my words coming at him for what he should be recognized for, the wrong doings of him (Ernesto "Che" Guevara).

Documentary

If i were to make a documentary the subject or person i would choose would be about cars. It would go through a time line of the first car to the most recent cars. It would have favorites of people. But also how foreign cars came to America. Who invited the car and how they came up with it. I think it would be really interesting to learn about. The relevance to today would be about the emissions that cars give off and global warming. How the cars give off the emissions and etc. But, i would also go over what we are trying to do as a country to try and solve this problem. Like having hybrid cars, and cars that work off just electricity and how the would change the environment we lived in today. Also talk about how cars are such a big part of our lives today and what would happen if we did not have cars anymore. That is the subject i would use for my documentary.

Che Documentary

I would cover about Che's life as child. And also about how he got involved with Cuba, and Fidel Castro. I would also focus on why his face is so well known in hollywood/the United States. I would ask questions about his relations to cuba and fidel. Also him trying to balance being a father and becoming one of the most powerful men in Cuba.
